Passport numbers limited to 12 characters from 24 October 2026

Effective in production: 24 October 2026, announced in the MyInvois SDK 1.0 release notes on 6 August 2026.

What changed

For the ID type Passport, LHDN now allows at most 12 characters. A longer value gets the document rejected. The same update limits all amount fields to 26 digits, which ordinary invoices never reach.

Who it affects

Anyone who files e-invoices for foreign buyers, or self-billed e-invoices for foreign individual suppliers, using a passport number.

What envoice does

Since 28 September 2026:

  • envoice removes spaces and hyphens from a passport number before filing, so "A 1234-5678" becomes "A12345678".
  • If it is still longer than 12 characters, envoice stops the document and asks you to enter the passport number only. It never cuts the number short, because a shortened passport number would identify a different person.
  • This works whichever way a connected store spells the ID type.

What to do

  1. Check passport numbers saved in Customers and in any connected store. Remove country codes, expiry dates or notes typed after the number.
  2. If envoice stops a document with "passport number is longer than 12 characters", correct the number and submit again.
