LHDN error DR319: the referenced document does not exist

Updated 18 October 2026

Short answer

DR319 means a credit, debit or refund note references a document UUID that LHDN cannot find in MyInvois. The usual causes are a mistyped UUID, or an original invoice that lives in the other LHDN environment (the test system versus production). Reference a validated original from the same environment and submit again.

What LHDN's message says

DR319 (Referenced Documents validator): “The referenced document uuid {0} does not exist.” Read LHDN's guidance for DR319

What it means

LHDN runs its test system (preprod) and production separately. A UUID from one does not exist in the other, so a note filed in production that references an invoice validated on the test system, or the reverse, fails this check.

Why it happens

A UUID copied by hand with a missing or wrong character fails it too.

LHDN lists these causes:

  • The referenced document cannot be found in the MyInvois repository.

How to fix it

  1. Search for the original document in the MyInvois portal of the same environment the note is filed in.
  2. Copy its UUID exactly, or pick the document from your records rather than typing the UUID.
  3. Submit the note again with the correct reference.

LHDN's recommended resolution:

  • Search the document in MyInvois Portal and confirm the document exists in the same environment.
  • Use a valid document UUID.

How envoice handles it

When LHDN rejects a document, envoice shows a Rejection reason box on it. Each line names the field at fault, explains the cause in plain language, gives the fix where envoice knows it, and quotes LHDN's own sentence with a link to LHDN's guidance for that code. The explanation is shown in English or Bahasa Melayu.

For this code, envoice's rejection reason reads: The document this note references is missing, mismatched or already cancelled. Reference the validated original invoice, make sure its UUID and internal number match, and check that it is not cancelled.

Click Fix & resubmit to open the invoice form prefilled from the rejected document, correct the field, and submit it as a new e-invoice. The shop owner also gets one email when a document is rejected, so a rejection is not discovered weeks later. See Why was my document rejected?

Frequently asked questions

What does LHDN error DR319 mean?

DR319 means a credit, debit or refund note references a document UUID that LHDN cannot find in MyInvois. The usual causes are a mistyped UUID, or an original invoice that lives in the other LHDN environment (the test system versus production). Reference a validated original from the same environment and submit again.

Why does LHDN say the document does not exist when I can see it?

It is most likely in the other environment. A document validated on LHDN's test system does not exist in production, and the reverse. Check which system the original was filed to.

Is DR319 the same as DR313?

No. DR319 means the UUID was not found at all. DR313 means the UUID was found, but the internal number sent with it belongs to a different document.
